Museo de Sitio Huaca Rajada - Sipán

The Museo de Sitio Huaca Rajada - Sipán is an archaeological museum in the Lambayeque region that displays finds from an important Moche site. The collection includes objects discovered in underground chambers that reveal how Moche nobles were buried and what they took with them.

The site was inhabited and used by the Moche culture over many centuries before being abandoned. In recent times, systematic excavations led to the discovery of royal tombs that revealed the importance of this place in ancient times.

The exhibits show objects from Moche tombs that reveal how noble families lived and what they valued in their daily lives and spiritual beliefs. Jewelry, weapons, and religious items on display demonstrate the social organization and beliefs of these ancient people.

The museum is located at the archaeological site itself, so visitors can see the tombs and structures where the displayed objects were found. A visit is straightforward to organize since guides are available on site and pathways are clearly marked.

Some of the burial chambers remained unopened after discovery and were not looted like many other pre-Columbian sites. This makes the finds especially valuable because they show how objects were originally arranged and used.
