Cape Sarichef Light, Wooden lighthouse in Unimak Island, Alaska.

The Cape Sarichef Light stands at the northwestern tip of Unimak Island, marking the northern entrance between the Bering Sea and Pacific Ocean.

The Cape Sarichef Light Station began operating in 1904 as Alaska's second coastal lighthouse and remained the only staffed United States lighthouse on the Bering Sea.

The lighthouse keepers, primarily selected from sailors and hunters, developed methods to handle extended periods without communication or supplies in this remote location.

The current structure reaches 52 meters in height and features a third order Fresnel lens that guides vessels through the northern section of Unimak Pass.

From August 1912 to June 1913, the lighthouse received no supplies, with the nearest human contact being a trapper located 16 kilometers away.
