Parque Caldas

Parque Caldas is the central square of Popayán with ornamental gardens, paved walkways, and a notable statue of Francisco Jose de Caldas positioned at its heart. White colonial buildings enclose the space, creating a harmonious setting with balanced proportions and clear sightlines.

The square was established during Popayán's four-hundredth-year celebration and marks the original urban nucleus of the city. This location served as the starting point for the city's colonial-era growth and expansion.
