Ermita de Jesús Nazareno

The Ermita de Jesús Nazareno is a hermitage positioned on elevated ground in the historic heart of Popayán. It features colonial baroque architecture and holds a collection of religious artworks, including sculptures and sacred imagery from the 18th century.

The hermitage was founded in 1617 and underwent major reconstruction work approved by the bishop in 1660. This renovation shaped the building's character and helped it survive as an important landmark through later centuries.
