Sutamarchán

Sutamarchán is a municipality on the Altiplano Cundiboyacense plateau in Boyacá Department, located roughly 44 kilometers from Tunja. The settlement sits within a region known for agriculture and is surrounded by several neighboring communities.

Spanish conquest reached this area in 1556 when Antonio de Santana founded the settlement on December 14. The territory had been home to Muisca communities living under zaque rule before that arrival.
