Discovery River Boats transported passengers through Disney's Animal Kingdom, offering views of different park areas along the waterway circular path.
The attraction opened with Animal Kingdom in April 1998 and closed in August 1999 after multiple attempts to enhance the experience with Radio Disney content.
The boats incorporated educational elements by featuring animal handlers who presented wildlife specimens to passengers during the journey around the park.
Each natural gas powered vessel accommodated 62 passengers per trip, with two main docking stations located in Safari Village and the Asia section.
The fire-breathing dragon cave near Camp Minnie Mickey and the bathing Iguanodon outside Dinoland USA marked notable points along the water route.
