Sacramento Valley Museum

The Sacramento Valley Museum occupies a large building with multiple exhibition rooms displaying regional artifacts spanning from prehistoric times to the present. The collections include objects, photographs, and written documents that trace how the area developed over many centuries.

The building was constructed in 1911 and originally served as Williams Union High School until it closed in 1956. Local citizens then transformed it into a museum that opened to the public in 1963.

The museum displays textiles and documents from the 19th and 20th centuries that show how communities in the Sacramento Valley developed over time. These items tell the stories of people who shaped the region and how they lived.

The museum is open Thursday through Saturday with free admission for all visitors. Private tours can be arranged by request, so plan ahead if you want a guided experience.

The museum features a dedicated Hall of Fame that honors influential Californians and recognizes their contributions to the region's development. This section highlights people who shaped the history and culture of the Sacramento Valley.
