Whistler Blackcomb, Ski resort in Whistler Mountain, Canada
Whistler Blackcomb is a ski resort in British Columbia that stretches across two neighboring peaks and offers more than 200 marked runs. The facility connects both mountains through lifts and descents serving beginners through to experts.
The first facility opened in 1966 after an Olympic bid had launched the project. The second mountain followed in 1980, adding more runs and elevation zones to the offer.
The place welcomes skiers from around the world and remains tied to the development of Canadian alpine sport. Since 2010, memories of the Olympic races stay present throughout the terrain.
The base area sits in the valley and provides equipment rental, ski schools, and restaurants for all levels. Upper zones are reached via gondolas and chairlifts that open up different terrain.
The Peak 2 Peak Gondola links both summits over a distance exceeding four kilometers while hovering up to 436 meters above the ground. It holds two world records for the longest unsupported span and the highest clearance of a cable car.
