Mount Tom, Mountain summit in Inyo County, California.
Mount Tom rises to an elevation of 13,658 feet with steep slopes and rocky terrain within the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
The Owens Valley Paiute people named this mountain Winuba before Thomas Clark became the first European settler to reach its peak in 1860.
The summit forms part of the Sierra Peaks Section list and stands as a reference point for mountaineers exploring the Sierra Nevada range.
Hikers can access the peak through a 14-mile trail starting at Horton Creek Canyon, gaining 5,652 feet in elevation during the journey.
The mountain contains deposits of epidote, quartz, scheelite, and garnet, which led to the establishment of the Hanging Valley Mine.
