Sunset Park, County park near Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, United States.
Sunset Park is a county park spanning 324 acres with 214 developed areas that include sports fields, playgrounds, and walking paths. The site also features a fishing pond that attracts migratory birds throughout the year.
The land began as Houssels Ranch in 1909 under John F. Miller before Clark County purchased it in 1967. This acquisition established the third county park in the region.
The park features a stone Moai statue originally from the Aku Aku Restaurant at the Stardust Hotel, now standing by the pond. This artwork connects the park to Las Vegas's gambling era heritage.
The park is open from 6 AM to 11 PM daily and offers 31 picnic areas with multiple sports facilities. Plan your visit for early morning or evening hours, especially during hot months, to enjoy the outdoor spaces more comfortably.
The Nevada Department of Fish and Wildlife actively manages the 1.4-acre pond by stocking it weekly with rainbow trout. Channel catfish are added monthly, maintaining fishing opportunities year-round for park visitors.
