West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre, Temporary bamboo theatre in West Kowloon, Hong Kong
The West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre spans 1,800 square meters and features a traditional tiered roof structure covered with orange nylon sheets near Victoria Harbour.
Constructed in January 2012 at Canton Road and Austin Road West junction, this theatre required 10,000 bamboo stalks and 10 scaffolders to create an 800-seat auditorium.
The theatre presents Cantonese operas, Chinese dance performances, and contemporary music shows during the Chinese New Year celebrations in the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Located next to Tsim Sha Tsui Fire Station, the theatre offers performances with tickets ranging from 10 to 280 Hong Kong dollars depending on the show.
The structure incorporates red chairs, curtains, and lanterns, while exterior decorations include fabric signs mounted on bamboo scaffolding facing the street.
