Roba Ranch, Historical ranch in Paulina, Oregon, United States.
Roba Ranch is a historic property that spreads across grasslands marked by rocky outcrops and hills covered with juniper and Ponderosa pine trees. The site contains a main house, barn, pump house, and outbuildings from the early 1900s.
The founder arrived from central Europe in 1882 and purchased the property in 1892 to establish a farming operation. Most buildings were constructed between 1892 and 1910 during a period of settlement in this remote area.
The buildings on the property show traditional construction methods using materials that local workers and craftspeople gathered from the surrounding land. You can see how builders joined stone and wood together to withstand the harsh climate.
The property is located several miles north of Paulina along Oregon Route 380 in a quiet, rural section of Crook County. Access is possible, but the terrain is hilly and there are limited facilities on site.
In the 1890s, the property operated as a significant sheep ranch with a large herd during turbulent times in the region. The owner sold most of the animals in 1899 when conflicts in the cattle industry made the operation unprofitable.
