Al Zamil Tower, skyscraper in Bahrain
Al Zamil Tower is a 21-story office building in Manama, Bahrain, covering about 30,000 square meters with parking for 154 cars. The structure combines traditional architectural details with smooth modern lines and serves primarily as workspace for businesses.
Construction began in 2001 under architect Souheil El-Masri's leadership and was completed in 2005 after about four years of work. The building received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2007, recognizing its design quality and cultural respect.
The tower's name comes from a local merchant family and reflects Bahrain's connection to its roots. The mix of traditional design elements with modern construction shows how the city honors both its past and present.
The tower is located near the Manama souq and government buildings in the city center, making it easy to reach on foot. With ample parking available on-site, it is also convenient to access by car.
A glass bridge connects the two towers of the complex across Al Khalifa road, allowing pedestrians to walk directly to the souq. This design choice creates a seamless pathway between different parts of the city.
