The Nanjing Baguazhou Yangtze River Bridge is a cable-stayed structure crossing the Yangtze for approximately 628 meters, combining steel towers with supporting cables and a steel box girder deck. Construction started in October 1997 and the bridge opened to traffic in March 2001, representing a major infrastructure project for the region. The completion marked a milestone in Chinese engineering achievement for spanning large rivers.
