Turpan Museum, Archaeological museum in Gaochang District, China.
The Turpan Museum spans 17,571 square meters and houses more than 20,000 cultural relics across five exhibition halls in its 4,278-square-meter display area.
The museum preserves artifacts from the Western Han Dynasty through the Tang Dynasty, representing 80 percent of cultural items discovered along this section of the Silk Road.
The collection includes ancient contracts, official letters, household registrations, prescriptions, and Buddhist scriptures that document the social life of past civilizations.
Located at 1268 Muna'er Road, the museum requires visitors to present identification for free entry and maintains a strict policy against wearing flip-flops inside.
The museum displays the earliest known prosthetic limb and ancient moon cake, alongside preserved dried corpses and rare Paraceratherium lepidum fossils.
