Hongshan Reservoir, Artificial lake in Xixiu District, Anshun, China
Hongshan Reservoir is an artificial lake in the heart of Guizhou Province, covering about 54 hectares and stretching roughly 2 kilometers long. Water is contained by dikes that form the lake, and pathways, bridges, and picnic areas are scattered throughout the grounds.
The lake was completed in 1958 and reached full capacity in 1959 as part of water management efforts on a tributary of the Dabang River. In 2017, it gained national 4A scenic status, transforming from a simple water storage facility into a destination for visitors.
The reservoir serves as a gathering place where locals come for celebrations and daily leisure, and you will see families walking and spending time together throughout the grounds.
The grounds are easiest to reach from Anshun city center, and pathways are designed so most visitors can navigate easily. Tree-lined walkways and marked trails help you find your way, and plenty of shaded spots offer places to rest.
The reservoir area has performance spaces where music and dance can be seen throughout the year. These events combine the water setting with local entertainment in an unusual way.
