Segeberg District, Rural district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
The district of Segeberg extends across 1,334 square kilometers between Neumünster and Hamburg, featuring agricultural plains and hills in the southwestern region.
Following Schleswig-Holstein's incorporation into Prussia, the district of Segeberg was established in 1865 and later expanded through mergers in 1932 and 1970.
The district's coat of arms displays four steeples forming a cross, representing Bishop Vizelin's missionary work, along with Holstein's nettle leaf and water lily symbols.
Bad Segeberg functions as the administrative center of the district, which includes multiple independent towns such as Bad Bramstedt, Kaltenkirchen, and Wahlstedt.
The district contains part of Holsteinische Schweiz, characterized by glacially formed hills that contrast with the surrounding northern German lowlands.
