Regional Unit of West Attica, Administrative division in northern Attica, Greece.
The Regional Unit of West Attica is an administrative area in northern Attica comprising five municipalities: Elefsina, Aspropyrgos, Fyli, Mandra-Eidyllia, and Megara. The administrative center operates from Elefsina.
This administrative unit was created in 2011 through the Kallikratis government reform, which reorganized the former prefecture structure. The reform established new administrative boundaries for the region.
Each municipality in the region hosts local festivals celebrating Greek traditions through music, dance, and regional food throughout the year.
The region can be explored through its five municipalities, all accessible from Elefsina. Visitors should be prepared for very hot weather, especially during summer months.
Elefsina is home to some of Greece's highest temperature records, with weather stations documenting extreme heat in the area. This intense climate shapes the region's character significantly.
