Cime de l'Encoula, Alpine summit at 3536 meters in Isère, France.

The Cime de l'Encoula rises in the Écrins massif with vertical rock faces and ridges that extend into the alpine environment.

The mountain received its first recorded ascent on August 1, 1879, when Henry Duhamel led an expedition with Pierre Gaspard and Giraud-Lézin.

Local mountain guides maintain the traditional climbing routes, passing down generations of knowledge about the mountain's technical challenges.

Climbers need full mountaineering equipment and strong physical preparation to tackle the 300-meter technical climbing sections of the mountain.

The climbing routes follow a natural waterfall that diminishes to a thin stream higher up, creating specific climbing conditions throughout the ascent.
