Seven Arches Hotel, building in Mount of Olives, Jerusalem
Seven Arches Hotel is a lodging property on the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem with around 196 rooms equipped with modern amenities and traditional elements. The building spans three floors and offers views of the Old City and city walls from its location.
The hotel was founded in 1964 and was initially known as Hotel Jerusalem Intercontinental, managed by a major American hotel chain. After the 1967 war, local residents took over management and gave the property its current name.
The hotel takes its name from seven large arches that define its entrance and architectural character. These arches reflect the connection to traditional building styles found throughout Jerusalem.
Reaching the hotel requires driving up a hill which may be challenging for those with limited mobility, but the location offers advantages for exploration. Public transportation stops directly in front of the hotel, and free parking is available for guests with a car.
The original building was planned higher on the hill, but engineers relocated it lower because of an underground crack, which altered the final view and location. This little-known construction decision shapes the guest experience to this day.
