World Trade Park, Jaipur, Shopping center in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, India.
World Trade Park is a shopping center in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, that spans five stories and connects two main building sections with a glass-covered bridge. The bridge houses several restaurants with views over the surrounding shops and walkways inside the complex.
Work on this retail complex ran from 2009 to 2011, before actor Shah Rukh Khan led the opening ceremony the following year. The project introduced a new model of large-scale retail architecture to the city, different from traditional market formats.
On the ground floor, many Indian restaurant chains sit alongside international fast-food outlets, where whole families often drop by for meals and browsing in the late afternoon. The upper levels tend to be quieter in the evenings and attract younger visitors who come for the cinemas and gaming zones.
The underground parking area holds space for several thousand vehicles and makes access easier on weekends, when visitor numbers rise. Arriving in the morning or early afternoon is often better, when the corridors are less crowded and shopping feels more relaxed.
The ceiling runs continuously changing images across a large surface, created by more than two dozen synchronized projectors. This installation often draws the eye upward and breaks the usual atmosphere of an enclosed shopping space in an unexpected way.
