Initially established in 1300, Monti transformed from a densely populated area for the poorest citizens near Forum Romanum into a central district of Rome.
The Palazzo delle Esposizioni on Via Nazionale functions as a cultural center, presenting art exhibitions, workshops, cinema screenings, and contemporary installations.
The district connects to three metro stations - Cavour, Termini, and Colosseo - providing direct access to major landmarks and transportation hubs.
Trajan's Market, constructed around 100 AD within Monti's boundaries, represents the earliest known example of a covered shopping complex in history.
