Rifugio Levi Molinari, Mountain shelter in Exilles, Italy
Rifugio Levi Molinari is a mountain hut located at 1,850 meters (6,070 feet) elevation in the Rio Galambra basin, positioned between the peaks of Niblè and Ambin mountains. The facility provides lodging and serves as a base for exploring the surrounding alpine terrain.
The hut was established in 1928 and originally named after Mariannina Levi, though the name was changed later due to political circumstances of the era. This change reflects the turbulent history that affected the region.
The hut serves as a gathering place where people connect with mountain traditions and alpine ways of living. Visitors find themselves in a space where knowledge about high-altitude landscapes and local customs is shared naturally.
Visitors can reach the hut by driving about 8 kilometers on mountain roads to Grange della Valle, followed by a short walk to the facility. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the paths are easier to navigate.
The surrounding area contains some of the remaining glaciers in Val di Susa valley. The region is home to rare wildlife including ibex, wolves, marmots, and eagles that inhabit this high-altitude ecosystem.
