Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary stretches across 2,514 square kilometers of forested land through Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, and Kratie provinces, featuring mountains, prairies, and water channels.

Established in 1993, the sanctuary received protection status under the management of Cambodia's Ministry of Environment to preserve endangered species and their habitats.

Local Phnorng minority communities maintain traditional practices near the sanctuary, using natural resources such as resins, vines, and medicinal plants from the forest.

Visitors can arrange guided tours and elephant rides through ranger-guides at Phnom Prik National Park, with elephant handlers charging between 15 to 25 dollars per day.

The sanctuary supports rare bird populations including giant ibises, white-shouldered ibises, and several species of vultures that have diminished across Southeast Asia.
