Al Wusta Governorate

Al Wusta spreads across 79,700 square kilometers of varied terrain, encompassing desert landscapes, coastal areas along the Arabian Sea, and mineral-rich geological formations.

The region transformed from a traditional administrative zone into an official governorate in 2011, marking a significant change in Oman's territorial organization.

The inhabitants maintain traditional practices of Omani poetry, music performances, and intricate weaving techniques passed down through multiple generations.

The governorate contains four main districts - Haima, Al Jazer, Duqm, and Mahout - with Haima serving as the administrative center along the Muscat-Salalah highway.

The territory houses a 25,000-square-kilometer sanctuary for Arabian Oryx, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site within its boundaries.
