The Margalla Hills extend across 12,605 hectares with limestone formations and sandstone beds, reaching heights of 1,604 meters at Tilla Charouni peak.

The Shah Allah Ditta Caves within these hills contain 2,400-year-old murals depicting Hindu deities and served as shelter during Alexander the Great's expedition.

Local communities maintain traditional practices of collecting medicinal plants from the hills, where over 250 plant species grow throughout the year.

Multiple hiking paths traverse the hills, with Trail 3 and Trail 5 providing designated routes for different fitness levels and access points.

Scientists discovered human footprints preserved in sand deposits within these hills, dating back more than one million years.
