Dim Dam, Embankment dam and hydroelectric power station in Antalya Province, Turkey
Dim Dam is a concrete-faced rock-fill dam on the Dim River near Alanya that holds back a large reservoir. The structure manages water flow for the surrounding region and serves multiple purposes including power generation and water supply.
Construction started in 1996 and took approximately 11 years to complete under Turkish State Hydraulic Works supervision. The finished dam marked an important infrastructure milestone for the Antalya region.
The dam transformed the regional economy by establishing new opportunities for agriculture, power generation, and water resource management.
The site is open to visitors with viewing areas that offer perspectives on the structure and reservoir. The drier seasons provide better conditions for observing the dam and surrounding landscape.
The facility uses a modern chute spillway system to handle large water volumes during heavy rains and protect areas downstream. This system is key to flood management in the region.
