Simbiling Monastery, Buddhist monastery near Taklakot, China
Located on a ridge overlooking the Karnali River, Simbiling Monastery contains over 100 rooms within its mountainous complex.
Constructed in 1650, the monastery faced destruction during military conflict in 1967 and underwent reconstruction efforts starting in 2003.
The temple halls display over 400 banner paintings, including four silk banners measuring 60 by 30 feet each, representing Buddhist teachings.
The monastery maintains a regular school for junior monks and contains a library housing two sets of Kanjur and Tanjur texts.
The nine-story Tsegu Gompa section of the monastery requires visitors to use ladders for accessing different terrace levels.
