Dairy Farm Nature Park, Nature park in Bukit Panjang, Singapore.
Dairy Farm Nature Park is a nature park in the Bukit Panjang area of Singapore, made up of forested hillside crossed by hiking trails, cycling paths, and a few observation points. The terrain includes a former quarry lake and sections of secondary forest that connect to the larger Central Nature Reserve.
The land was used as a working dairy farm from the 1930s, supplying fresh milk to Singapore until operations wound down in the second half of the 20th century. After the farm closed, the site was set aside for nature conservation, allowing the forest cover that had grown around it to remain intact.
The Wallace Education Centre sits inside a former cowshed and introduces visitors to the plants and animals native to this part of Singapore. The building itself is a reminder of the site's farming past, now repurposed as a place for learning about local nature.
The park is within walking distance of Hillview MRT station, which makes it easy to reach without a car. Sturdy shoes and enough water are worth bringing, as the trails can be steep in places and the heat builds quickly once you are in open sections.
The old quarry inside the park slowly filled with rainwater over decades and is now a lake where native turtles and stork-billed kingfishers can be spotted. The stork-billed kingfisher, one of the largest kingfishers found in Singapore, is recognizable by its oversized orange bill.
