Transportation and Ticket Center, intermodal monorail and bus transportation hub on the Walt Disney World Resort
The Transportation and Ticket Center is a transit hub in Bay Lake, Florida, where guests board monorails, ferries, or buses to reach the theme parks. It sits at the edge of a large parking area and houses ticket booths, security checkpoints, and separate boarding platforms for each mode of transport.
The center opened in 1971 alongside Walt Disney World and was designed from the start as the foundation of the resort's transport network. Ferry docks and extra monorail lines were added in later decades to keep pace with the growing number of guests.
Many visitors feel their park day truly begins here, before they even reach the gates. Waiting on the platforms for the monorail or ferry is already part of the experience, and the anticipation in the crowd is easy to notice.
Arriving earlier than you think you need to is a good idea, since security and boarding can take longer than expected on busy mornings. The facility is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, and covered waiting areas are available, though queues can spill outside when crowds are large.
The ferries that cross Seven Seas Lagoon are two-deck boats, and on busy days passengers may have to stand, but the open view of Magic Kingdom from the water is not available from the monorail. The crossing takes longer, but it gives a completely different perspective on the resort layout.
