Adhaim Dam

Adhaim Dam is an embankment dam on the Al Uzaym River that holds water for irrigation and power generation across a wide area. The structure includes the main dam body along with spillway systems and outlets designed to distribute water downstream.

Construction of the dam finished in 2000 and marked a significant step in modern infrastructure development for the country. The project grew from efforts to control flooding and improve water availability across the region.

This engineering structure represents Iraq's commitment to managing water resources through large-scale projects that support agricultural communities along the Tigris basin.

The dam sits roughly 130 kilometers northeast of Baghdad and is accessible from the capital city. Visiting works best during drier months when water levels are more stable and access to the site is easier to manage.

The facility will generate roughly 27 megawatts of power once its power station becomes fully operational. At the same time, its irrigation system delivers large amounts of water daily to farmland across the region.
