Hornillos Waterfalls is a cascade in the Ancash mountains that flows down multiple levels, creating clear pools of water throughout its descent. The surrounding landscape is filled with lush vegetation that thrives in the wet environment.
This site has been valued by local communities for generations as a natural water source. In 2021, concrete stairs, pedestrian bridges, and safety features were added to improve visitor access to the falls.
The falls lie in the Moro district of Santa province, Ancash, reached on foot from the surrounding countryside. The 2021 municipal works added three pergolas with benches, a pedestrian bridge and a security hut, so the site now works as a stopping point on the walk, where visitors rest and look out over the water.
The trail from the parking area to the main cascade takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes and involves both uphill and downhill walking. Rest areas with seating are located along the route to give visitors a chance to recover and take in the views.
The 2021 upgrade by the Provincial Municipality of Santa added a pedestrian bridge and a security cabin alongside the stairs and ramps. The three pergolas with benches are part of that same works package, finished on 31 October 2021.
