Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen and San Pedro Apósto

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen and San Pedro Apostol is a large church with a Latin cross layout and a central dome crowning the structure. The building can hold roughly 1600 worshippers and displays clean architectural lines throughout its interior and exterior.

Construction began in 2002 under the direction of Bishop Luis Bambarén and Italian priest Ugo de Censi, with the building opening five years later. The completion of this cathedral marked the expansion of religious infrastructure in the area.

The wooden furnishings were created by craftspeople from Chacas in the Conchucos Valley, who brought their long-standing carving expertise to this building. You can see their skilled hands in the detailed retablos and pews throughout the interior.
