Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen and San Pedro Apósto

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen and San Pedro Apóstol covers 2000 square meters and features a Latin cross layout with a central dome.

Construction of the cathedral began on March 22, 2002, under the guidance of Bishop Luis Bambarén and Italian priest Ugo de Censi, opening in August 2007.

The cathedral's retablos and pews were crafted by skilled artisans from Chacas district in the Conchucos Valley, continuing local woodworking traditions.

The cathedral accommodates 1600 people and measures 70 meters in length, 50 meters in width, and reaches a height of 40 meters.

Inside the dome, a Latin inscription reads 'TV ES PETRVS ET SVPER HANC PETRAM AEDIFICABO ECCLESIAM MEAM,' taken from Matthew 16:18.
