The Estadio Manuel Rivera Sánchez in Chimbote has four wide stands with boxes and seats, artificial turf and an athletics track. It holds 26,000 spectators and is the home ground of José Gálvez FBC. It was inaugurated on 30 June 2007 with a Peru–Colombia U-17 match.

The Estadio Manuel Rivera Sánchez was inaugurated on 30 June 2007 with a Peru–Colombia U-17 international, which Peru lost 4–2. It replaced the Estadio Manuel Gómez Arellano as Chimbote's main venue. On 24 June 2009 the municipality added an athletic track, floodlights, an electronic scoreboard and security cameras, and in 2021 the ground served as a COVID-19 isolation centre before reopening after remodelling in 2025.

The stadium is named after Manuel Rivera Sánchez, the most outstanding footballer from Chimbote, who even joined the Peru national team. At the 2007 inauguration, local singer Paola Gonzales performed "Tiempo de gaviotas", by Luis Aguirre Barrón, the winning song of Chimbote's Centenario song festival. The venue is home to José Gálvez FBC, which plays in the Copa Perú.

The facility is equipped with modern features such as electronic scoreboards and night lighting to support various sporting events. Visitors will find multiple access ramps and entrance areas that provide convenient entry to the stadium.

The first Peruvian first-division match played here was the Lima classic between Universitario and Alianza Lima on 7 November 2007, with Universitario as hosts because Lima lacked guarantees; Alianza won 1-3. Organisers Carlos Espinoza Linares and Manuel Rojas Villajulca handled the event.
