Dubai Marina, Waterfront neighborhood in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The Dubai Marina district stretches along a 3-kilometer artificial canal, featuring residential towers, luxury yachts, and retail establishments around its waterways.
Work on the artificial canal system started in 2003 under Emaar Properties as a response to growing demand for residential space in Dubai. The project transformed a stretch of coastline into a dense residential zone with towers and yacht berths over about ten years.
The Marina Walk promenade serves as a social hub where residents gather for outdoor dining, shopping, and community events throughout the year.
Two metro stations and a tram line connect the area to other parts of the city, while water taxis shuttle along the canal. Several parking garages are available for drivers, though public transport often moves faster during rush hours.
The area holds one of the highest concentrations of skyscrapers worldwide within a relatively small footprint. Many towers stand so close together that their shadows cover the canal promenade for long stretches.
