Termas Huife, Natural hot spring in Pucón, Chile

Termas Huife is a hot spring complex in the Pucón commune of Chile's Araucanía Region, at 400 metres above sea level near the Liucura River. Its pools hold water between 38 and 58 °C, with a pH of 8.8 to 8.9; the water is sulphated, alkaline, chlorinated and carbonated, and contains sodium and potassium. Mud and algae treatments are applied there.

The thermal waters at Huife were used by Mapuche communities for generations as places of healing and restoration. Their knowledge of these waters' therapeutic effects passed down through families over time.

The name Huife comes from Mapuche, the language of the indigenous people of the region. Mud and algae are applied at the pools as healing techniques, a practice tied to the waters' reputation for skin, rheumatic and arthritic complaints. Bathers today follow the same treatment custom at the springs.
