San Pedro de Lloc District, Administrative district in Pacasmayo Province, Peru
San Pedro de Lloc District is an administrative division in Pacasmayo Province located in northwestern Peru, covering rural areas and smaller settlements. The territory spans lowland terrain where villages and farming zones form the basic pattern of settlement.
The area once belonged to the pre-Columbian Chimú culture before Spanish conquest transformed the region. In 1839, it separated from Lambayeque Province to establish itself as an independent administrative district.
The district capital houses a museum within a former residence of Italian scientist Antonio Raimondi, situated near the main plaza. This building traces the path of a 19th-century naturalist who studied the region's landscapes and resources.
The district connects to larger cities through road networks, making it accessible for visitors. Trujillo to the south functions as a main hub for travelers exploring the broader region and its surroundings.
The district was traditionally known for salt harvesting from coastal lagoons through methods that date back to pre-Columbian times. This ancient craft practice still shapes the livelihood of some local communities today.
