Iglesia San Martín de Tours de Sechura

The Church of San Martin de Tours exhibits late Baroque architecture with two prominent towers reaching a height of 44 meters above Sechura.

Construction of this religious structure began in 1770 after a river flood destroyed the previous temple, with consecration ceremonies occurring in 1778.

The Peruvian Congress declared this church a National Historical Monument in 1945 through Law 10278, recognizing its architectural and social value.

The church underwent extensive renovations in 2014 following earthquake damage, leading to structural improvements and restoration of original architectural elements.

The interior walls contain historical murals from different periods, providing documentation about northern Peruvian architectural development through the centuries.
