Mount Farquhar, Mountain summit in Tulare County, California
Mount Farquhar is a mountain summit in Kings Canyon National Park in Tulare County, California, reaching approximately 3926 meters (12,880 feet) in elevation. Granite rock formations dominate its structure, with alpine meadows scattered across its slopes.
The summit was officially named in 1989 to honor conservationist Francis P. Farquhar, who played a key role in establishing Kings Canyon National Park. It was previously known as Notch Peak.
The first documented ascent occurred on July 17, 1932, when Dorothy Baird, Norman Clyde, and Glen Dawson reached the summit via the South Ridge route.
Climbers access the summit via multiple established routes including the Northwest Ridge and Northeast Face. The easiest paths are classified as class 3 scrambles, requiring basic mountaineering experience.
The mountain's west-facing slopes feed Sphinx Creek, while its east-facing slopes drain into Cross Creek and North Guard Creek. These creek systems eventually flow through Bubbs Creek toward the Kings River.
