Mission Hills Golf Club, Golf resort complex in Shenzhen, China
Mission Hills Golf Club is a golf facility in Shenzhen with twelve courses designed by well-known architects such as Jack Nicklaus and Vijay Singh. The area spreads across several kilometers between gentle hills and artificial lakes, with each course offering a different playing experience.
The complex opened in 1992 as one of the first large golf facilities on the Chinese mainland. The Guinness Book of Records listed the site in 2004 as the largest golf destination in the world.
The golf courses attract both holiday players and regular members who practice their swing after work or train on weekends. The complex also serves as a meeting point for business people from the Shenzhen region who combine appointments with a round of golf.
Shuttle buses run regularly from Hong Kong Island and Kowloon to the club, making the journey easier for visitors from the special administrative region. The ride takes about an hour, depending on traffic.
Each of the 216 holes has its own character, so two players on the same day can face completely different challenges. Some fairways wind around water bodies, while others run across open ground and reward long drives.
