Longhai is an administrative district in Zhangzhou with diverse geography, stretching along the Jiulong River. The area is characterized by mountainous terrain in three directions, while Xiamen Bay forms the eastern coastal boundary.
The district was established in 1960 through the merger of Longxi and Haicheng counties. This union created a new administrative unit that has shaped the regional structure ever since.
