Shenzhen Bay Port, Border crossing point in Nanshan District, China
Shenzhen Bay Port is a border crossing in Nanshan District, China, connecting mainland China with Hong Kong through a shared terminal building where both immigration services operate. The facility stands at the western end of Shenzhen Bay and serves travelers moving between the two administrative regions.
The crossing opened in July 2007, a decade after Hong Kong returned to Chinese administration. It was built as the third land connection between Hong Kong and the mainland, joining older crossings in the east.
The name refers to the location directly on Shenzhen Bay, the body of water separating mainland China from western Hong Kong. Both immigration checks take place under one roof, allowing travelers to complete formalities without changing buildings.
The crossing operates every day from 6:30 in the morning until midnight and is served by coaches, minibuses, and taxis. Immigration checks happen in a single building, making the passage easier without needing to transfer.
The Hong Kong section of the terminal remains under Hong Kong law until 2047, even though it sits physically on the mainland. This arrangement allows both checks to happen without travelers crossing into either territory until formalities are complete.
