Yalong Bay, Coastal resort area in Sanya, China
Yalong Bay is a coastal bay on Sanya's southeastern shore with a 7.5-kilometer stretch of sandy beach and shallow, clear waters. The shoreline slopes gently into the sea, creating natural conditions for swimming and water activities.
Development of this bay as a tourism destination began in the 1990s following international recognition of its natural qualities. Since then, the area has been built up with facilities and become a popular seaside resort.
The Central Square contains a 27-meter totem pole that represents local heritage, while the Shell Museum displays over 300 varieties of marine specimens.
The bay is accessible by public bus or car, with several entry points along the coast. Best conditions are found in early morning or outside peak season, when the beach is less crowded.
A section of the eastern beach is used by a naval base and off-limits to visitors. This makes the western areas the main focus for tourist activities.
