Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is an amusement park in Pudong featuring distinct themed zones with a snow-covered mountain section and a tropical area. Gondola lifts connect these zones across a canal and offer views of the entire layout.
Plans for the park date to at least 2012, when Haichang hired three design firms—Romero VanRell Jeng and Associates, FORREC and Legacy Entertainment—to draft competing schemes, with Legacy's chosen and adapted to the west shore of Dishui Lake. Ground was broken on 29 March 2015, trial operation began on 1 October 2018, and the grand opening followed on 16 November 2018.
The park displays marine animals across multiple zones where visitors watch creatures in naturalistic habitats and during regular shows throughout the day. The design teaches visitors about ocean life while providing entertainment.
The park operates daily and allows visitors to explore the main attractions within a few hours. Its location in Pudong makes it accessible by public transportation.
The park displays over 20 species of polar animals and more than 300 species of fish, over 20,000 individuals in total. In July 2022 it opened the world's first Ultraman-themed pavilion, and it was rated a national 4A-level tourist attraction in 2020.
