Shenzhen Safari Park

Shenzhen Safari Park is a wildlife facility in Nanshan divided into three zones designed for different animal groups. Glass corridors allow visitors to observe animals moving freely without traditional barrier separations.

The facility opened in 1993 as China's first cage-free animal park. This opening transformed how zoos approached animal housing and visitor experiences in the country.

The park hosts regular shows where visitors watch birds, sea lions, and elephants display their natural behaviors in dedicated halls. These performances help guests understand how different species interact and communicate with one another.

The park opens daily and is easily reached by public transport. Wear comfortable walking shoes and plan enough time to explore all three zones thoroughly.

Black swans at the park have developed an unusual feeding method where they dip food pellets in water so koi fish can eat them. This behavior reveals how animals in captivity can create novel interactions with other species.
