Fairy Cave, Cultural heritage cave in Mount Lu, China

The erosional sandstone cave measures 14 meters in length and 7 meters in height, featuring naturally formed rock shelters within Mount Lu.

During the Tang Dynasty, the cave was a meditation site for Taoist figure Lü Dongbin before being renamed from Buddha's Hand Rock.

Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang established the Visiting Immortal Pavilion next to the cave after receiving healing medicine from a resident monk.

The entrance features a round gate with Chinese characters, and visitors need to bring torches as the cave interior lacks artificial lighting.

In 1961, a photograph of the cave inspired Chairman Mao Zedong to compose a poem, which was published two years later.
