Meilu Villa

Meilu Villa is a two-story mansion nestled on Mount Lushan that combines Roman, Gothic, Islamic, and Japanese architectural styles in its design. The building blends multiple European and Asian influences into a single structure.

The villa was built in 1903 by Lord Lannoze as a personal residence before becoming the home of Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling. The couple lived here for an extended period, making it an important location in their lives.

The rooms contain original furnishings like an American piano and period furniture that reflect how daily life unfolded here. The preserved spaces reveal personal touches that show who lived in this house and what mattered to them.

The drive from the main visitor center takes about 40 minutes along winding mountain roads to reach the villa in the Lushan Resort area. Visitors should prepare for high altitude conditions and variable weather typical of the mountain environment.

The location served as a retreat for multiple significant figures in modern Chinese political history. Mao Zedong visited the house at different times, highlighting its role as a place where important political encounters took place.
