Jiujiang Yangtze River Expressway Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Jiujiang, China
The Jiujiang Yangtze River Expressway Bridge is a cable-stayed road bridge that spans roughly 8.5 kilometers across the Yangtze River. The main section between towers stretches about 800 meters, and the roadway has six lanes for modern long-distance traffic.
Construction of the bridge started in 2009 and was completed about four years later, creating a long-needed connection between the two riverbanks. The project was part of a larger effort to improve transportation networks in the region.
The bridge links two provinces and makes it easier for people, goods, and ideas to move across a historically important water barrier. It has become a practical way for residents to travel between different regions.
Access to the bridge is via the G70 expressway that links the north and south of the country. The structure is best experienced during daylight when visibility is good and traffic patterns are easy to observe.
The bridge towers rise to about 240 meters above the water, making it one of the tallest structures in the region and giving it a distinctive place in the landscape. This impressive height allows large ships to pass underneath without obstruction.
