Sawai Man Singh Hospital is a public hospital in central Jaipur and the largest government medical facility in the state of Rajasthan. The campus is made up of several buildings housing departments for emergency care, surgery, cancer treatment, diagnostic laboratories, and imaging services.
The first part of the hospital was built in 1934 and opened its doors in 1936 under the reign of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. Over the following decades, it grew steadily and eventually became a teaching hospital attached to a medical college.
The hospital takes its name from Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, one of the last rulers of Jaipur before Indian independence. On any given day, patients and families from across Rajasthan gather here, speaking many different languages and dialects.
