Mawmluh Cave, Natural limestone cave in Cherrapunjee, India
Mawmluh Cave is a limestone cave system in Cherrapunjee that stretches for several kilometers underground. The formation features multiple entrances and underground water channels that flow through its passages.
The cave was discovered in 1844 by Lieutenant Yule during regional exploration, marking the start of scientific study at this site. Since then it has become a focus of ongoing geological research and documentation.
The Khasi people refer to the cave as Krem Mawmluh and maintain traditional beliefs about protective spirits residing within its chambers.
